Ivan,
If you can wait longer, until they finish working out the bugs, you will probably find that the website you're working with has been updated and will only work properly with IE 8. So many websites, have not been updated in order to run properly with IE 8, that they have actually created a button, so that IE 8, can read the old-style websites.
My first experience, upgrading to IE 8, was a nightmare, they slipped into an automatic update, something they had never done before. They must've been quite desperate, to get people to use IE 8. Unfortunately, I was not the only one to learn the hard way, that IE 8, was hardly ready for prime time. Thousands of users across the world, many of them business users, are required to update their equipment, every time Microsoft issues one. Many laptop users, of which I am not one, ran into blue screens, and even black screens of death. There were several articles in InfoWorld, and other publications regarding this debacle. Never have I been so angry, at having to beta test their problematic browser.
IE 8's inability to get along with Firefox, and AVG antivirus software, forced me to wipe my primary drive, and reinstall everything from scratch. Needless to say, I was not happy about it. Chances are, that Google is working with a newer version website, then IE 7 knows what to do with. At least those are my thoughts, may you find your answer soon. Hopefully someone else may have a better solution for you.
