but windows is shit, fundamentally f****d. allowing scrambled entries to call up any process from the registry, hiding file extensions and a host of other shitty features make windows the best platform ever for spyware houses, virus writing bastards and all sorts of arseholes to pervert and use for their own ends - none of which has any value for the owner of the machine.

as for ^ backtracking... maybe it's a requirement of the government bailout they asked for this year?

If you just want to have a play without modifying your computer then get a "live cd" , you just burn the ISO image then boot from the CD and it will run in RAM. Get a "desktop" if you want a permanent installation.

What is the best one to download?, that's like asking how long is a piece of string. Download them all and use the one you like best, better still make a multi boot drive and use all of them

Installation and hard drive usage is different to windows as it uses multiple partitions, if your worried about losing data from your windows drive then try to get your hands on an old 20GB hard drive to experiment with.

You can say goodbye to spam and spyware. Everything (within reason) is absolutely free on Linux and there's no need to go hunting for software on google you simply ask the operating system what "graphic packages, games, calculators, etc" are available and it will give you a list that's available in its repository. Once your software is selected it will automatically fetch it and install it for you.

Linux gets a big thumbs up from me , you should definitely give it a go

Then again you need MS if you are gameing now, I have a bud you has 2 PC one with MS to game with the other is Apple for all his other stuff. MS likes to sell us their stuff with out it tested as we turn into the tester then and email them the problems.
